We're encouraging are residents to attend a public kick-off meeting on Tuesday!  The purpose  of the meeting is to ask residents how they reduce their natural gas and electric use at home and to share ideas for community-wide programs that can help them save more energy.

The meeting will be held at the City Hall Common Council Chamber from 4:30 to 6 pm on TUESDAY September 16th.

The information gathered at this meeting will help the MCEC Residential Committee to create program ideas to be included in our semi-finalist application. The potential prize of $5 million will help provide energy reduction programs for area homes and municipal buildings.

Monroe County Plan Commission Meeting Tomorrow

After our informative September breakfast program "What's the Plan, Fran?" we wanted to let you know that the Monroe County Plan Commission will meet on Tuesday September 16th at 6 pm at the Nat U Hill room in the Courthouse. Although it's not clear whether or not public comment will be heard on the entire Rural Zoning and Subdivision ordinance, the issue of whether or not the Ordinance is ready to be advertised is on the agenda.

Once the Ordinance is advertised via U.S. Mail, there will be a full public hearing on the proposal. We'll keep you posted on these upcoming meetings.

Action Item: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Must Resign After Ray Rice Incident

From Ultraviolet:

The commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, has been caught in a despicable and disgusting lie and he must resign. He insisted that the NFL had asked for the hotel surveillance video of the horrific and brutal assault of Janay Rice, but had never seen it. However, news just broke that the law enforcement officials sent the NFL the video in April--and the NFL even acknowledged receiving it--a NFL employee was even quoted saying, "It's terrible." And shockingly, after watching Ray Rice beat his wife and knock her out cold, NFL executives still only suspended Rice for two games.

It's horrendous--and completely undermines the NFL's credibility. Calls for Goodell's resignation are mounting--it's time for him to go. Will you sign the petition?

Tell NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell: "Resign immediately. Your failure to take domestic violence seriously is outrageous." See www.weareultraviolet.org.
