Becoming a member of DWC provides voting privileges, but most importantly supports the mission of the organization to fund, inspire, recruit, support and train progressive, pro-choice women for elected positions.  Membership fees fund candidate training and directly support our endorsed candidates.

Please join us, or renew your membership.  We now have an easy online payment option.  Just have a credit card ready and visit https://democraticwomenscaucus.nationbuilder.com/membership to join.

You can also complete the membership form here and submit to [email protected]

Join online or send membership form with a check for $20 to DWC PAC, P.O. Box 2373, Bloomington, IN 47402. You can also bring the form and check to our next meeting.  Remember that if you cannot afford the membership fee, the DWC has a sliding scale fee policy, so you may pay as much as you can afford.

Meeting place for DWC Breakfast, Village Deli, damaged by fire

The DWC has been meeting at the Village Deli for more than 10 years.  We received news that it has been damaged by fire.  A new meeting place for the February 6 breakfast, among other things, is under discussion.  Please watch for updates.

DWC Endorsement Policy (Adopted January 18, 2014)

The DWC may endorse any viable Pro-Choice, Progressive female Democratic candidates in Monroe County for the offices on the ballot in all city, town, township, and county races. Additionally, State House and State Senate candidates may be endorsed if the district represents at least part of the Monroe County populace. We do not endorse women for federal, local School Board, or State offices not listed above.

Pro-Choice candidates support unrestricted reproductive rights.

Progressive candidates support social justice and social equality for all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or economic status.

Viable candidates are those who demonstrate a reasonable chance of winning (based on demographics), possess a strong campaign plan, the ability to fundraise and effectively organize their campaign, a knowledge of the issues and duties related to the office sought, and a past history as an elected official and/or in a leadership role and/or involvement in the community.
Candidates must be a member of the Democratic Women’s Caucus to be considered for endorsement.

Action Item:  Sign the Petition to Protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau!

Petition by Senator Jeff Merkley

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is the middle class's first line of defense against the big banks and unfair financial practices. But Wall Street lobbyists and their Republican allies in Congress have made clear from the start that they want to gut the CFPB.

We're calling on Congress to protect the CFPB and redouble efforts to ensure middle class families are getting a fair deal on mortgages, student loans, credit cards and other critical financial instruments.

Sign the petition here.
