Monday Morning News Oct. 24, 2016

To our DWC members and friends at IU --

Just a couple of hours help could make the difference for our endorsed candidates.

PENNY GITHENS, candidate for State House District 60
Penny needs help early this week making follow-up contacts to voters.  Please email [email protected] for information.   Also, Penny needs some yard signs put out in Morgan county.  What a great week for a country drive! Contact Morgan Murphy at [email protected] for a map, addresses and signs.  Penny thanks you!  Be sure to "like" her Facebook page, and check out her website http://pennygithensforindiana.nationbuilder.com/. Contact Penny at [email protected].

JESSICA McCLELLAN, candidate for County Treasurer
Jessica is going door to door letting people know her qualifications for office. Her opponent is putting up billboards that say "I know how to count."
Isn't that an oversimplification of the job? Give Jessica an hour or two! Host a yard sign. Offer to walk with her.  Contact Jessica at [email protected] or through Facebook. Visit www.votejessica.com.

JOANI SHIELDS, candidate for County Coroner[email protected]
Joani needs yard sign locations!

AMANDA BARGE and JULIE THOMAS, County Commissioner (running from different districts -- You can vote for BOTH!)

Amanda
asks if you can spend one hour making calls from home? Or write 10 letters? Amanda Barge's campaign will send you everything you need to help get the word out to residents who are hard to reach door to door. This is an important part of her campaign, and she'd really appreciate your help! Thank you! Text 812-606-6540 OR email [email protected]

Julie has helped SO many women with advice, hosting fundraisers, serving on their committees, and leading the caucus. Please send her your best yard sign locations, and offer to put them up for her! [email protected].

CHERYL MUNSON and LEE JONES, re-elect to County Council at-large (Again, you can vote for BOTH!)
Both are looking for good yard sign locations and donations for their mailing.  No amount is too small!  Contact Cheryl at [email protected]. Lee can be reached at [email protected]

EVENTS:

Fundraiser for Glenda Ritz TONIGHT!
Monday, October 24, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Hopscotch Coffee

Longtime local Democratic Party mover and shaker Pat Murphy and Hopscotch Coffeehouse are sponsoring a fundraiser for the Glenda Ritz's re-election campaign. Ritz, the state's Superintendent of Schools, has gone toe to toe against outgoing IN Guv Mike Pence, now chief abettor to the Republican Candidate for President, over Indiana education policy and her role in implementing it. So, load up a burlap bag or two full of cash -- USD, s'il vous plaît -- and drop in to Hopscotch, 235 W. Dodds St., Monday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. Or write a check for ten bucks, either way.

Even more diverse offerings beyond the usual African and African-inspired jewelry and baskets, including rugs, quilts, a designer barrette collection and many other items.  Benefits two AIDS orphanages/school and women's agricultural cooperative in Kenya.  In 2015, the teachers were paid and food was bought for a month with the money raised.  At the small AIDS orphanage, the money was sufficient to pay school fees for two secondary students for two years. And the women of the Ndethya cooperative used our offering to continue to upgrade much-needed water tanks.
