The Nominating Committee has presented the following candidates to the membership for their consideration:

Chair: Amy Swain and Carolyn VandeWiele (you'll be voting for one)
Secretary: Karen Wrenbeck

Steering Committee Members: (you will vote for five)

We will be voting on these positions at the January 4th Breakfast meeting.
To help you make your decisions we provide the following information:

Candidate Bios and head shots will be sent out to the MMN list on Wednesday
Ballots will be sent to all eligible voters (if you were a paid member in 2018 or have become a member in 2019 you are eligible to vote) with instructions on how to vote if you cannot attend the Friday meeting.
There will be a question and answer session at the Breakfast on Friday prior to voting.

If time allows we will also review input from the endorsement questionnaires and discussion at the breakfast as well as other issues pertinent to the mission of the DWC and the upcoming municipal elections.

Campaign Finance Reports:
To all our candidates: 2018 annual campaign finance reports are due on Wednesday, January 16 at noon. You must file an annual report if you have an open finance committee even if you had no financial activity in 2018. Don't leave it until the last moment.

Declaration of Candidacy for the 2019 Municipal or Town Elections:
The first day that an individual may file a declaration of candidacy for nomination in the 2019 municipal primary is Wednesday, January 9. The final day to declare as a candidate will be on Friday, February 8 at noon.

Local Officials will take their Oath of Office at a New Year's Day Ceremony in the Nat U. Hill Room of the Monroe County Courthouse at Noon. Officials to be sworn in will include judges, county administrators, county commissioners, county council members, township officials, school board members and Ellettsville town councilors.
This is a bipartisan event recognizing Monroe County's newly elected civil servants. The event is organized by the Monroe County Democratic Party in cooperation with the Monroe County Republican Party. The event is open to the public and free to attend.

Bloomington Commission on the Status of Women Seeks Nominations for Annual Awards
The City of Bloomington Commission on the Status of Women is seeking nominees for the 2019 Woman of the Year, Emerging Leader and Toby Strout Lifetime Contribution awards. The deadline for nominations for the 2019 awards is January 18, 2019.
Nomination forms for all the awards are available online or in the City of Bloomington’s Community and Family Resources Department (401 N. Morton St., Suite 260) or by email from [email protected]. Completed nomination forms may be sent by e-mail to [email protected] or by mail to: The Commission on the Status of Women, P.O. Box 100, Bloomington, IN 47402.

The League of Women Voters announces Legislative Updates.
The League is once again sponsoring updates with our state legislators. They are held once a month during the current legislative session on Saturdays from 9:30-11:30 am in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The dates are as follows: January 12, February 2, March 2, and April 6.

With Lee Jones’ victory in the County Commissioner race there will be a caucus to fill her position on the Monroe County Council. In addition, Mark Fraley has announced that he will be stepping down as Party Chair. On January 13, 2019, at 1:00 pm there will be a Party Caucus to select replacements for these two positions. The deadline to put your name in for consideration is January 10 at 1:00 pm.
